Training pharmacists is one of the most critical tasks. In this regard, FPT Long Châu has made remarkable progress compared to its competitors. It is the first pharmacy chain to implement pharmacist training through AI, signifying a revolutionary shift from traditional training methods. Instead of organizing large-scale in-person training sessions with hundreds of participants, this new training model adopts an adaptive microlearning approach. Trainees participate in short 3–5-minute courses daily on their mobile phones. Their knowledge is quickly assessed to identify gaps, which the AI-powered adaptive algorithm addresses with tailored content, repeatedly reinforcing concepts until the knowledge gaps are closed.
The FPT AI Mentor solution has the capability to evaluate employees’ knowledge daily and personalize training content based on their strengths and weaknesses. Subsequent lessons focus on weaker areas, combined with the spaced repetition method to reinforce retained knowledge. Employees can access learning materials anytime and anywhere, with diverse formats such as text, images, audio, and short videos developed from enterprise knowledge resources.

FPT AI Mentor was introduced at Long Châu Pharmacy in June 2023, initially piloted with a group of approximately 360 pharmacists with less than 1.5 years of experience who had previously made errors in the system. Pharmacists face immense pressure in handling numerous types of medicines. They must understand which medications to prescribe for various conditions, identify alternatives, distinguish between over-the-counter and prescription-only drugs, and locate these items among dozens of shelves—a challenging task, especially for new pharmacists.
The AI Mentor system helps pharmacists enhance memory and stay updated on product knowledge, pharmacology, and pharmacy processes. With a question bank generated entirely automatically by the system, each pharmacist undergoes daily knowledge assessments. Based on real learning outcomes, the system acts as a “mentor,” guiding and personalizing development pathways for each employee.
Within a month, significant improvements were observed: less than 1% of participants—around three individuals—repeated the mistakes they had previously made. After three months of training, pharmacists’ response times to customer inquiries improved by 26%, dropping from 15 seconds to 11 seconds. Currently, FPT Long Châu has expanded this AI training model to approximately 4,000 pharmacists, with plans to increase the number to 7,000 next year. Their ultimate goal is to have around 10,000 pharmacists regularly learning through this unique platform, aiming to boost average productivity by 30%.
AI Mentor models like this are highly effective for enterprises with large workforces, as they fully harness AI’s capabilities, optimizing costs and time. Engineers at FPT Smart Cloud utilized expertise from traditional training programs to develop the AI system. They employed a pre-trained AI model to process a vast amount of data within a month. After assimilating this specialized knowledge, the AI system generates thousands of questions and answers to support pharmacist training, covering topics aligned with the pharmacy’s four employee competency levels.
