Artificial intelligence is becoming a key driver of digital transformation across industries; from private enterprises to the public sector. For the diplomatic sector, AI offers more than the automation of routine tasks. It also presents opportunities to strengthen governance, improve public service delivery, and build a modern, professional diplomatic system in an increasingly interconnected world.
At the workshop “Accelerating AI Adoption in the Diplomatic Sector Through 2030,” representatives from FPT.AI shared practical insights drawn from real-world AI deployments and proposed a roadmap to support AI adoption across Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the coming years.
During the event, Dr. Tran The Trung, Deputy Director of the AI Product Division at FPT Smart Cloud, together with FPT experts, presented successful AI implementation case studies from government agencies, organizations, and enterprises. These experiences were built upon the development and deployment of large-scale AI solutions, including internal AI assistants, enterprise knowledge platforms, and intelligent data management systems.
According to the speakers, AI adoption within the diplomatic sector is not simply about optimizing individual workflows. It is about building a unified digital ecosystem where data, organizational knowledge, and AI technologies work together to support decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the quality of public services.
Drawing on its implementation experience, FPT proposed a comprehensive AI ecosystem to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs built around three strategic priorities.
The first focuses on enhancing citizen services. AI-powered assistants can help citizens quickly access administrative procedures, government policies, and related public services with greater speed, accuracy, and convenience. By providing round-the-clock access to information, intelligent AI assistants reduce search time while improving interactions between citizens and government agencies.
The second priority centers on supporting government officials in their daily responsibilities. AI applications such as document review, multilingual translation, and AI-powered teaching and training assistants can reduce repetitive manual work while improving productivity and the accuracy of information processing in environments where precision is essential.
Besides operational support, AI also creates new opportunities for governance and management. Automating data aggregation, analyzing trends, generating reports, and detecting information security threats can strengthen monitoring capabilities, improve responsiveness, and enable more effective data-driven decision-making across government agencies.
To turn this vision into reality, FPT proposed a phased implementation roadmap. During the 2026–2027 period, the focuses on piloting AI applications in selected priority areas while establishing a robust data infrastructure and strengthening workforce capabilities to lay the foundation for long-term AI adoption.
The second phase, spanning 2028–2030, focuses on scaling AI across the Ministry’s operational and administrative functions. With mature data infrastructure and a well-prepared workforce in place, AI will be positioned to deliver greater value in supporting operations, analyzing information, and improving the quality of public services.
FPT.AI’s participation in the workshop further demonstrated its expertise in advising on and implementing large-scale AI initiatives across Vietnam. Rather than simply providing AI technologies, FPT.AI works alongside government agencies and organizations to develop AI strategies tailored to their operational needs, ensuring practical implementation and long-term scalability.
As AI becomes an increasingly important pillar of digital transformation, combining practical implementation experience with long-term strategic planning will be essential to driving innovation across the public sector. The insights and recommendations shared during the workshop reflect FPT.AI’s commitment to partnering with government agencies to unlock the full potential of AI, helping build a modern public administration while accelerating AI transformation across Vietnam.
