On August 18, the 2026 Banking Digital Transformation Event, themed “Smart Banking in the Era of Data and AI,” took place in Hanoi. At the event, FPT introduced its Made by FPT ecosystem, supporting the banking sector in its transition from Digital Banking to AI-First Banking.

The event was attended by Mr. Pham Duc An, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), along with representatives from several central ministries, agencies, and departments under the SBV. 2026 marks the fifth consecutive year that the State Bank of Vietnam has organized the Banking Digital Transformation event series. It also marks the conclusion of the five-year implementation of the Banking Digital Transformation Plan through 2025, with a vision toward 2030, issued under Decision No. 810/QD-NHNN on May 11, 2021 by the Governor of the SBV.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, emphasized that banking is among the sectors identified as high-priority and highly prepared for digital transformation, given its daily impact on people’s lives. In recent years, the banking sector has made efforts to implement the Party and Government’s policies and resolutions on digital transformation and innovation. In particular, digital transformation in banking aims to integrate, share, and effectively leverage data through the responsible use of AI to develop smart banking services. These efforts enable customers to access banking products and services safely and conveniently anytime, anywhere, while reducing costs through simpler and more streamlined procedures, thereby contributing to broader economic development.

As part of the event, the Governor of the SBV, together with representatives from several central ministries and agencies and departments under the SBV, visited the exhibition area, where leading products, services, platforms, and technology solutions from credit institutions, payment intermediary service providers, and technology companies were showcased.

At the event, FPT presented a technology ecosystem designed to support banks throughout their digital transformation journey. From building technological foundations and developing AI capabilities to deploying AI applications in real-world operations.

Among these solutions, FPT.AI serves as a core AI platform, expanding the application of artificial intelligence across a wide range of banking operations; from customer interaction and service, process automation, and data processing and utilization to knowledge retrieval and employee support. In this way, AI is not limited to individual customer touchpoints but is gradually becoming a capability embedded across banking operations.

Meanwhile, FPT Cloud and FPT AI Factory provide computing infrastructure and sovereign AI capabilities to meet the high performance, security, and data governance requirements associated with deploying AI models at scale. These capabilities also give organizations greater control over building, operating, and scaling AI applications according to their specific needs.

To help banks identify their starting point and determine an appropriate transformation roadmap, FPT CASAN, a five-level AI-Native Capability Framework, provides a systematic approach to assessing AI maturity. By identifying their current state and recognizing gaps in technology and capabilities, banks can gradually develop an appropriate transformation roadmap toward an AI-First Banking model, where AI becomes a core part of how banks operate, serve customers, and create new value.

From familiar tasks such as customer service, statement inquiries, and card blocking to more advanced use cases such as knowledge retrieval with source citations and telesales, AI Agents demonstrate how AI can be integrated directly into specific banking touchpoints and business processes.

Rather than being limited to technology experimentation, AI Agents are designed to become “digital employees” capable of performing tasks, interacting with users, and collaborating with people as part of operational workflows.

This is also how AI-First Banking can be put into practice: AI does not replace people but becomes a new layer of capability that enables employees to work faster and more efficiently while focusing on higher-value tasks.
